Mom's Birthday Weekend

Exactly one week ago today, we as a family embarked upon an excursion we like to call 'Mom's Birthday Weekend at the Sundance Cabin'. Isn't that a snappy title? I know, my literary skills astound you yet again. It was a great little get-away full of alot of nothing. Our favorite type of activity. We were graced with Josh's presence from the land of the sun, and Justin's presence from the land of Hicks & Hooters otherwise known as Tooele. Even Daxton took time out of his busy pizza delivery life to come celebrate with us. Lynsey put alot of thought into our itinerary which quickly went out the window as soon as we settled into our lazy ways. We loved every minute of our slothful days. Here are the tintillating highlights complete with photo inserts to whip you into a frenzy. Simmer down now.

This is my beautiful Mommy complete with rhinestone '60' earrings which came craftily wrapped in a Tiffany's box. When she opened them we all gasped at the blinginess of them, then audibly groaned at the tackiness of them. Ha, Ha. Jokes on us. She made them herself.

We spent our first evening together at the always scrumptious Snake Creek Grill Restaurant in the Midway-Heber area. We had paid Luke to stay behind at the cabin with the little ones so that we could pretend to act like grown-ups. This was quickly left by the wayside as we all started to reminisce about how many times our 'Big Brother' has gotten us in trouble with the law. Ahhh, memories.

After a great dinner where we all had to undo out top buttons, we quickly retired to the cabin and our elastic waistband pants. After about 15 minutes we were ready for.....

Cake of course. What good would a birthday party be without a triple decker white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate mousse cake. Is your mouth watering yet? We spent the rest of that evening schooling the teenagers in blackjack just like every good adult trying to set an example would.

The next day after sleeping in till about noonish (well some of us, which didn't include me) we finally managed to throw on some clothes (well some of us, which didn't include me) and venture out of the cabin for a few minutes. We drove the whole 2 minutes down to the Sundance stores and bought some suckers and cookies because the cake was all gone and Josh was bitching that there wasn't enough sugar in the house. Here we are pausing by the river splendor.

We lazily made it back to our humble abode and some of us continued our Vegas theme and held a poker lesson, while others opted to nap in the big bed while watching the snow fall. Don't ask me why a boy who woke up 2 hours ago suddenly needs a nap. Clearly he doesn't have children. They would literally be the most neglected children on the planet.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I did spank this table full of boys at poker. Haley and Heidi would have been so proud. Wade said it's a lot easier to win when there's no real money on the line. I tend to agree with him.

Later that day we had an easter egg hunt. My mom is a holiday freak and has the best egg hunts ever. We find eggs full of money. That's how she gets the onery adults to be excited about it.

Here's a pic of us all fighting over eggs. Lynsey is telling Zac to back off in this photo.

Here is Josh 'laying his eggs' out to see what's inside while Lynsey laughs hysterically in the background.

The best part of the cabin in my opinion was the 'Playhouse' located in a smaller outbuilding across the parking lot. It had a basketball hoop, foosball table, flatscreen tv, and slide. This beautiful little oasis afforded me a few hours of kid free time, something I cherish.

The next morning was Easter day. Amazingly the smart little bunny managed to find all the kids at the cabin.

We woke up to blue skies and snow-capped mountains. It was breathtaking.

We had brunch together as a family before everybody went their seperate ways for the rest of the day. Busy Nick even made it up to pig-out with us. There's nothing better than Lynsey's deviled eggs on Easter Day.
