MMHS takes State!

Yes, another post about Luke. My previous post included rantings of how crushed I was when Luke gave up soccer to further pursue golf. Well, I admit defeat and am so glad that he made that decision way back when. Maple Mountain High School Golf Team took the 4A state title last Thursday!

It was a 2 day competition with the 17 best 4A teams in the state. 6 teams were cut after day 1 whittling the field down to 11 teams. Luke had a mediocre 2 days of golf, but was on a great team that has supported each other through the ups and downs all year long. Anyone who knows the game of golf know that you have good days and bad days. It's so great that he's on a team that has enough good players that can step up when someone's having an off day.

Luke is so competitive about his golf game that he is going to be livid with me for posting those scores! My blog, my photo choices.

MMHS had been going back and forth with Timpview all year in region. They wanted to win them in region so badly, but it wasn't meant to be. They came in second in region by 5 measly strokes! AHHHHH! Boy did they get revenge at State though, coming in first is sweet. It's even sweeter though when your arch enemy comes in 4th!

Wade and I were lucky enough to go up to Logan Country Club and watch the last day of competition. It was a beautiful fall day, made bittersweet with the knowledge that it was the last time we would watch this team play together. We were so proud to be there to watch them rise above, celebrate together, and have so much pride in their win!

Way to go boys.

To celebrate their win, the city and school held a parade in their honor. (small town luxuries) In the middle of the school day on Friday, they put the boys on top of a firetruck. Paraded them through Spanish Fork and Mapleton, and ended at the school where the entire student body was waiting outside for them. Sometimes I really love where I live...
